Panel Discussion on Women Prisoners and Restorative Justice
On April 30, Accords International organized a panel discussion to highlight the plight of women prisoners and explore the potential of restorative approaches for them. The discussion provided an insight into functioning of restorative justice, critical thinking and mental health of women prisoners.
Repairing of harm caused by an event of crime should not be just limited to victims. Sometimes, harm is also suffered by the harm-doers.
Furthermore, once entangled in the vines of punitive criminal justice system, the harm-doers are at the verge of becoming hardcore criminals. Restorative justice with its ability to understand perspectives allows harm-doers also to share their stories and transform themselves.
